Red Oak, Boys Residence Camp
Red Oak Camp is ideal for parents who are seeking an authentic outdoor experience for their son, while remaining close to the Greater Cleveland/Akron area. Red Oak is not large - our staff to camper ratio is 1 to 4, which means campers are afforded individual attention. |
Our program runs six weeks, with an additional two-week trip option available. Campers arrive Monday morning and return home on Friday for the weekend for the first six weeks. Red Oak’s activities focus on teaching responsibility, self-sufficiency, teamwork, and environmentally sound practices |
Red Oak offers an incremental development program, where campers learn fundamental skills needed to develop self-confidence and to work together as a team. There are many activities at Red Oak, such as archery, backpacking, canoeing, climbing and rappelling, fishing, outdoor cooking, tennis, riflery, swimming (Red Cross lessons), and teambuilding games. |
Red Oak has a 21-element, professionally constructed and inspected challenge course with exciting elements over a gorge. The course ends with a fun, 500-foot long zip line across our playing field. Red Oak campers also perform conservation projects with the Holden Arboretum and have exclusive science/ecology sessions with Holden's staff. |

The camp experience culminates with a two-week trip. Trips vary depending on the group's skill level, but are geared to provide campers with the opportunity to experience extended wilderness camping and to use their newly acquired skills. Trips focus on backpacking, climbing, canoeing, or a combination of skills. Past destinations include Ontario, Vermont, West Virginia, or Upper State New York. |
