Volunteer

HOW TO GET INVOLVED

At Red Oak, we believe that volunteers are an integral part of every successful program. We are always looking for volunteers with a wide array of skills and expertise.

Red Oak has several types of opportunities to give back. Read below to find the perfect fit for you!

Garden Volunteers

Volunteers are the heartbeat of the Lantern Court Garden and Red Oak’s Conservations Zone. In addition to donating their time, volunteers are able to enjoy field trips, participate in workshops and socialize with other horticultural enthusiasts. There is a wide range of volunteer opportunities available throughout the year.

Garden Essential Maintenance

  • Care for one of the most pristine gardens in Northeast Ohio. Weed, water, prune, mulch, and complete other basic outdoor gardening tasks under the supervision of experienced horticulturists.

Vegetables and other Edible Plants

  • Work inside Red Oak’s conservation zone, cultivating multiple-raised beds that play a key role in teaching our campers.

EQUESTRIAN Volunteers

Help Keep Our Premier Equestrian Facility Running Smoothly!

We are seeking dedicated volunteers to help with the essential behind-the-scenes work that makes our equestrian program possible. Volunteers play a vital role in caring for our facility, ensuring that our horses and equipment are well-maintained and ready to serve our campers.

This opportunity is perfect for individuals who enjoy hands-on tasks and working in a barn setting. The best part? No prior horse experience is necessary! We’ll teach you everything you need to know. All volunteers must participate in an orientation and complete our application before joining the program.

Barn Volunteer (18+ years old)

Assist with essential barn chores, including:

  • Cleaning stalls and removing manure.

  • Sweeping and maintaining clean barn aisles.

  • Grooming horses and donkeys and maintaining tack, bridles, and saddles.

  • Organizing and tidying the barn and feed areas.

  • Caring for the horses by feeding and watering.

  • Assisting with basic cleaning and upkeep of barn facilities.

This role is ideal for those who want to contribute to the equestrian program by focusing on facility care, barn upkeep, and horse well-being.
